ฝึกอ่านภาษาอังกฤษจากจดหมายอินเตอร์

กลับมาพบกันอีกแล้วกับจดหมายร้อน ๆ ส่งตรงจากนิวซีแลนด์ โดย Sue Scheib ถือเป็น

พันธมิตร(ทางการศึกษา)ของผู้เขียน เมื่อครั้งทางสถานทูตนิวซีแลนด์ได้เชิญให้ทีม Eduzones ไปชมสถาบันการศึกษาต่าง ๆ ในประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ ทั้งบนเกาะเหนือ-เกาะใต้ ทำให้มีการส่งข่าวกันมาเป็นระยะ เพื่อให้ทราบความเคลื่อนไหว ของการเรียนที่นั่น ซึ่งก็มีนักเรียนจากทวีปเอเซียไปเรียนระดับไฮสคูลกันมากมาย รวมทั้งน้อง ๆ จากเมืองไทย และนี่ก็เป็นจดหมาย และภาพบรรยากาศของนักเรียนอินเตอร์ในนิวซีแลนด์ ซึ่งเป็นช่วงก่อนที่คริสต์มาสปี 2008 จะมาถึง ซึ่งมีการจัดกิจกรรมสนุก ๆ เป็นการส่งท้ายปี และก็คงเป็นการฉลองเลี้ยงส่งนักเรียนบางคนที่จบการศึกษา และจะเดินทางกลับประเทศตน

เรามาดูภาพบรรยากาศกันครับ แล้วก็ถือเป็นโอกาสในการหัดเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษจากการแปลบทความนี้กันไปในตัว เพราะศัพท์ที่ใช้ก็ไม่ยากเท่าไหร่ นักเรียนที่มีพื้นฐานภาษาอังกฤษอยู่ระดับต้นและระดับกลางน่าจะพอเข้าใจได้ หรือบางคนอาจต้องเปิดDictionary ช่วยบ้างในบางคำ ก็ถือเป็นการฝึกฝน พัฒนาภาษากันครับ…

Dear Homestay hosts, Agents, Guardians, Parents & Students

It’s a sad time of year when we have to say goodbye to some of our students. Some have been here 3 or 4 years, so we have come to know them very well.To the homestays I want to say THANKYOU for making my job easier. You have been their home away from home and made efforts to make them happy. We certainly hear the good comments here at school.

To the Agents thank you for all the work you did, sending reports o­nto parents and liaising with parents.Our finish up for the year was a wonderful celebration. The Prize giving, the International Department had students from all the countries we have doing a welcome, some wore costumes, some had flags, it certainly created an International atmosphere in our school. Also at the Prize giving we were please to have so many International students receive awards in subjects, both academic, academies and sports. Also BIG congratulations to Hyun Soo Ahn, who received the Dux award for 2008 as well as receiving the first in 5 subjects.

This was our final event all together for the year. It was a great time. Some students went home wet. We said farewell to the students returning to their own countries over the holidays. It was a mixture of fun, and sadness. Thanks to the families that came out.

Trips – Our trips are all finished and they all went very well, some students experiencing things like sleeping in a tent, cooking their own meals for the first time. Great time and a lot of fun!

We have moved – The International Department is no longer in K block, it is coming down soon.

We are in storage at the moment while the Village rooms are getting renovated. I am based in the main administration building until a new office is built in the Village. We look forward to nice new rooms to start off 2009.

New Students – We will be getting some new students next year, but we can’t promise homestays students at this stage if you haven’t heard from me. Hopefully more will come as you all do a great job.

We do have 6 students staying over the Christmas break. If travelling they will need to let me know where, who and how they are travelling. I will always have my cellphone with me: either call or txt 021 236 7274 or 021 043 4621. I will be finished at school for the year 19 Dec 08 and start again o­n 19 Jan. I will be o­n call for the students here and checking my emails each day.
